About the Exhibition
Historically, the tradition of making one’s wedding dress, whether by the bride, a family member, or a community seamstress, was a deeply rooted practice, shaped by local materials, skills, and customs. Before the rise of commercial bridal wear, dresses were often crafted at home or by trusted artisans, reflecting personal taste, cultural identity, and regional aesthetics. This exhibition revisits that tradition, highlighting the enduring significance of handmade wedding dresses and the skillful labor that goes into their creation. Through a curated selection of garments, it invites reflection on the evolving relationship between fashion, craft, and ceremonial design.
